Milgard is great, SGK Construction is not
We had 10 Milgard windows installed by SGK Construction. The windows are nice, but don't have the Milgard identification on them. I don't actually know if the glass panels are Milgard. One cracked on install, and instead of fixing it, they told us to use our warranty, but SGK broke the window. SGK did terrible stucco work, and they knew the guy the sent out wasn't qualified. SGK also refused to do a written item on our contract. So Milgard takes a hit for this, for not better qualifying their certified vendors.
All in all the service is good
I contacted Milgard to replace 2 cloudy windows and one sliding door on line. I sent in the measurements and did not hear anything back. I had to call them first before they got the replacement process started. When they arrived 2 months later with the replacements. the windows were fine but the door had the incorrect size grid and had to go back. Again I had to call to find out when the replacement would be sent out. It took over a month to get it, but this time it was fine.
Prompt and excellent service.
The service phone representative and in home service tech were both very polite and nice. It took a while to get a service tech out, but he was on time for the appointment and completed the service promptly. Overall, though, I give Milgard a high rating.
Manufacture Warranty
We have ordered and installed 9 Milgard windows at our residence and this is the first time that we had to request a replacement. After installing our large main living room window we noticed that there were finger prints and dirt between the double pane glass of the center section. Since we had installed 8 windows prior we did not think to clean the window before installing. In the future we will inspect before installing. It was Saturday afternoon by time we completed the replacement and the Milgard customer service was closed. We promptly took photos and completed the warranty form online. The following Monday, I called the local service office and spoke to a woman who looked up our claim and booked the appointment which was about 6 weeks out. Today, the technician arrived early and quickly replaced the middle section of our window. He was prompt, quickly completed the replacement, cleaned up, waited for me to look it over and obtained a signature. I am satisfied with the warranty repair and well pleased with the local office.
